Phase 4: Conclusion and Publication
The CCTS Biostatistics Core (BSC) works with investigators to prepare your results for publication. During this phase, we can help your team:
- Write statistical methods sections
- Interpret and respond to reviewer critiques
- Prepare for subsequent grants or projects
BSC does not:
- Write results sections, as these depend on your subject-matter knowledge and judgement. However, we can review results sections for accurate statistical interpretation.
- Develop publication-ready graphics or tables. However, we can help you decide how to present your results.
To work with a biostatistician, start by requesting a free consultation through Research Ally.
We suggest investigators include our biostatistician as a co-author when support consists of statistical method design or data analysis and manuscript preparation or review. This recommendation is based on the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) authorship guidelines, which depend on the following criteria:
- Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND
- Drafting the work or reviewing it critically for important intellectual content; AND
- Final approval of the version to be published; AND
- Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
If you use any service or resource developed by the BSC in your research, please cite UIC’s Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) in all publications, press releases, or other documents. See the main CCTS site for more information and suggested language for specific scenarios.
If you use REDCap for research, please also cite the official REDCap publications. See the Project REDCap site for suggested language and references.
